The Obama Follies

‘Clunkers,’ a classic government folly
IN THE market for a used car? Good luck finding a bargain: The price of “pre-owned’’ vehicles has climbed considerably over the past year. According to Edmunds.com, a website for car buyers, a three-year-old automobile today will set you back, on average, close to $20,000 — a spike of more than 10 percent since last summer. For some popular models, the increase has been much steeper. In July, a used Cadillac Escalade was going for around $35,000, or nearly 36 percent over last July’s price.
Why are used-car prices rocketing?
It is as basic as supply and demand!
Demand:
Part of the answer is that demand is up: With unemployment high and the economy uncertain, some car buyers who might otherwise be looking for a new truck or SUV are instead shopping for a used vehicle as a way to save money.
Supply:
But an even bigger part of the answer is that the supply of used cars is artificially low, because your Uncle Sam decided last year to destroy hundreds of thousands of perfectly good automobiles as part of its hare-brained Car Allowance Rebate System — or, as most of us called it, Cash for Clunkers. That was the program under which the government paid consumers up to $4,500 when they traded in an old car and bought a new one with better gas mileage. The traded-in cars — which had to be in drivable condition to qualify for the rebate — were then demolished: Dealers were required to chemically wreck each car’s engine, and send the car to be crushed or shredded.
I foresaw this a over a year ago.

This will inflate prices in the affordable used car market AND the used auto parts market!!!

Yes, I told you so.

ObamaNationCare explained

AMERICA'S NEW HEALTH CARE SYSTEM REVEALED
In addition to capturing the massive expansion of government and the overwhelming complexity of new regulations and taxes, the chart portrays:
  • $569 billion in higher taxes;
  • $529 billion in cuts to Medicare;
  • swelling of the ranks of Medicaid by 16 million;
  • 17 major insurance mandates; and
  • the creation of two new bureaucracies with powers to impose future rationing: the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute and the Independent Payments Advisory Board.

Brady admits committee analysts could not fit the entire health care bill on one chart. "This portrays only about one-third of the complexity of the final bill. It’s actually worse than this."

Wow.

Putrid Unethical Waters

Rep. Waters charged on three counts
The House ethics committee on Monday outlined its charges against Rep. Maxine Waters, who is accused of helping a bank in which her husband owned stock secure federal bailout funds.

The committee charged the 10-term California Democrat with three counts of violating House rules and the federal ethics code in connection with her effort to arrange a 2008 meeting between Treasury officials and representatives with OneUnited bank.
Crooked as a dog's hind leg.

Standard behavior for Democrats lately.

Most ethical congress in history my ass.

Judicial Legislation

Judge re-writes California Constitution.
(08-04) 14:34 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- A federal judge today struck down Proposition 8, the voter-passed November 2008 initiative that defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman.

U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker found that the ban on same-sex marriage violated the constitutional due process and equal protection rights of a pair of couples - one lesbian and one gay - who sued.
Due process? What process?

Equal protection?
Whether you are homo or hetro, we all have the same rights.
The judge ordered an injunction against enforcement of Prop. 8 but issued a temporary stay until he decides whether to suspend his ruling while it is being appealed. The stay means that same-sex couples are still prohibited from marrying.
Well, at least the judge didn't completely poke a stick into the eye of the people of California.

"Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license," Walker wrote in a 136-page rulin
Wrong! A homo can get married just like a hetro.

Did this Judge always have a desire to marry a sibling?
Did he want to marry his father?
The constitutional right to marry, Walker said, "protects an individual's choice of marital partner regardless of gender."
Of which right does this nut job speak?

And don't make me go all Tina Turner on your ass!

Whether you are homo or hetro, we all have the same rights.

Emmer's bill crafted for more prescription drug options.

Yes, the left is all in a tizzy over Emmer's DUI bill. Mitch Berg shreds the left's argument to pieces here and here.

But we all know the real reason for Emmer's proposal was to enable Minnesotans the ability to enter Canada and buy cheaper prescription drugs if they had a DUI more than 10 years ago.

As I have posted before:
According to Canadian Law, anyone with a past DUI is considered a member of an Inadmissible Class. A DUI on your record from 20 years ago will prevent you from entering the country.

Now it is quite obvious that Emmer's proposal to remove a DUI from a person's record after 10 years of good behavior would indeed help those that need to join Dayton and go to Canada to get cheaper drugs.

Might I also suggest someone with a past DUI hop on the next Dayton Drug Bus and be sure to notify Canadian customs. Heh heh heh. Turn that bus around.

Unethical Rangeling, is he above the law?

Rangel doesn't think he has to follow the rules.
Documents released Thursday evening show that Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) and an ethics panel investigating him were constantly at odds over the last two years.

The contentious relationship between the 20-term lawmaker and the ethics committee that concluded Rangel had violated House rules sheds new light on why a settlement wasn’t reached before Thursday’s public hearing.
So much for the most ethical congress in history.
The ethics report released Thursday stated, “The inquiry was delayed in several instances by the actions of [Rangel] and his counsel, particularly with respect to the production of documents and a forensic accountant’s report.” ...
Green and Bonner indicated that the lack of cooperation was so bad that investigators needed to issue a subpoena to Rangel.
Crooked as a dog's hind leg. Guilty as sin. To the bitter end.

And Pelosi and the Democrats wanted to cut a deal for him. Hypocrites!

Investigators appeared especially irritated with Rangel’s statement to the press on June 6. At the time, he said, “…If they’re so confused after 18 months that they can’t find anything, then that is a story.”

Green and Bonner wrote, “That statement was made nine days after the Investigative Subcommittee had transmitted a copy of the proposed Statement of Alleged Violation to [Rangel].”

They added Rangel made another “misleading” statement when he told the media on July 7, “There is no accusation against me doing something wrong except by the press.

“This statement,” Green and Bonner wrote, “was made 21 days after the Statement of Alleged Violation had been adopted by the Investigative Subcommittee and transmitted to [Rangel].”

The lawmakers added that due to the ethics committee rules on confidentiality, “the Investigative Subcommittee was unable to publicly respond to these inaccurate comments.”
Lying to his constituents right up to the bitter end.

Rangel is the poster-boy of the Democrats.

Unethical Rangeling, a bakers dozen

Rangel faces 13 ethics charges
The House ethics committee said Thursday that Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) faces 13 different charges of breaking either House rules or federal statutes.
It's about time. Get rid of the crook.

The statement took place as reports circulated that Rangel's attorney had reached a deal with the committee that would prevent the public trial from going forward.

WCBS-TV in New York reported Harlem friends of Rangel said a deal had been struck. The network reported Rangel will admit to wrongdoing as part of the deal.

Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported lawyers had reached a tentative deal to settle the ethics charges and avoid a trial.

Rangel told reporters Thursday at the Capitol that he didn’t know if a deal had been reached.

Asked if there was a deal, Rangel said: “I don’t know. I’ll tell you one thing, until someone tells me that there is, there isn’t.”

Pelosi wanted to cut a deal and not serve justice with a trial.
Minutes before the WCBS report, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) defended her caucus’s record on ethics. She said Democrats had implemented ”the toughest ethics reform in a generation” when they took over the House in 2006.

Hahahahahahahahaha

Barack Trump: You're fired! Racism exposed.

Here is Shirley Sherrod's racist statement toward Andrew Breitbart in Anderson Cooper's interview:
"I don't think he's interested in seeing anyone get past it because I think he'd like to get us stuck back in the times of slavery. That's where I think he'd like to see all black people end up again."
and
"I'd like him to show me how he's not a racist."

Wow, naked racism. You are now a racist unless you can prove otherwise. No, Shirley, you are the racist.
But wait, there's more (emphasis mine):
"And I think that's why he's so vicious against a black president, you know. He would go after me. I don't think it was even the NAACP he was totally after. I think he was after a black president."
No, Ms. Sharron, our President is as much a white president if not more so, but the color of his skin or the color of his parents skin has nothing to do with it.

Obama was correct to fire her racist ass.

Folks, pay attention to this distraction; pay no attention to the ongoing Obama Depression.

Here was Donna Brazile:
"Fox News and others who allowed this — this — this bogus tape to hit the airwaves..."
Oh please, Obama fired her before anything was shown on Fox.

At least Cokie Roberts got part of it right:
"The truth is, the only people who could fire her were the administration. Fox News couldn’t fire her. The NAACP couldn’t fire her. Only the administration could fire her. So they really bear the most culpability here, I think by a long shot."

And Sam Donaldson is so partisan; he is unable to level any criticism or skepticism toward Obama. Media bias?

And the recent comments from Sherrod show that she is indeed a racist and that Breitbart was unintentionally correct.

So, sheeple, just keep on paying attention to this distraction instead of the Obama Depression.

Unethical Rangeling

Rangel charged with multiple violations by House ethics panel
Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) faces multiple ethics violations as a House investigative committee announced unspecified charges against the former chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee.

The House ethics committee has launched a separate panel, called an adjudicatory subcommittee, in the wake of findings by a four-member panel of the ethics committee that Rangel violated House rules.

The adjudicatory subcommittee, a separate eight-member panel tasked with trying Rangel on the charges, will hold a public organizational meeting July 29.
Surprise, surprise. Not.

Reacting to the ethics committee’s statement, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington immediately called for Rangel to resign.

“Today’s action demonstrates that the notoriously lax Ethics Committee has found substantial reason to believe that Rep. Rangel has violated federal law, House rules, or both,” said Melanie Sloan, CREW’s executive director. “Now the question is whether Rep. Rangel will resign or endure a public trial that promises to be filled with detailed and undoubtedly embarrassing revelations of wrongdoing.

“Rep. Rangel has toughed it out as long as he could, the time clearly has come for him to resign. He can no longer effectively represent the citizens of New York,” she added.
Nah, only Republicans actually resign.

History repeats itself, again?

Kagan wins Senate confirmation in mostly partisan vote, 13 to 6
All the Democrats on the committee voted in favor of Kagan, while all but one Republican, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), voted against her. Graham, who was one of just nine Republicans who voted in favor of Sonia Sotomayor’s confirmation last year, joined Democrats in voting in favor of Kagan.
R as in RINO?

We went through this with Sotomayor.

I warned of Sotomayor's desire to repeal the second amendment.

We can be assured that Kagan will do the same.

Here are the details we must not forget.

The Obama Depression (part 4)

The US workforce has shrunk by a 1m over the past two months as discouraged jobless give up the hunt.
The euro rocketed to a two-month high of $1.29 and sterling jumped two cents to almost $1.54 after the Fed confessed that the US economy may not recover for five or six years. Far from winding down emergency stimulus, the bank may need a fresh blast of bond purchases or quantitative easing.
The Fed thinks this depression will last until 2016. Ouch!

Thursday, July 1, 2010

The Obama Depression continues and continues

We Can't Recover All the Jobs Lost
Vice President Joe Biden gave a stark assessment of the economy today, telling an audience of supporters, "there's no possibility to restore 8 million jobs lost in the Great Recession."
"Great Recession" i.e. Obama Depression

Remember when stare decisis was important

Back during the last confirmation proceedings Judge Sotomayor claimed to agree that “The Second Amendment Right Is An Individual Right”.
(Judiciary Committee, U.S. Senate, Confirmation Hearing, 7/14/09)

SEN. PAT LEAHY (D-VT): “Is It Safe To Say That You Accept The Supreme Court’s Decision As Establishing That The Second Amendment Right Is An Individual Right? Is That Correct?”
JUDGE SOTOMAYOR: “Yes, Sir.”
So how did Justice Sotomayor vote in the McDonald case?
“I Can Find Nothing In The Second Amendment’s Text, History, Or Underlying Rationale That Could Warrant Characterizing It As ‘Fundamental’ Insofar As It Seeks To Protect The Keeping And Bearing Of Arms For Private Self-Defense Purposes.”
She was one of the 4 that voted against the 2nd Amendment!
It appears that she lied to us.
What about Heller? What about Stare Decisis?

Will our elected officials repeat this mistake?
(Judiciary Committee, U.S. Senate, Confirmation Hearing, 6/29/10)

SEN. PAT LEAHY (D-VT): “Is There Any Doubt After The Court’s Decisions In Heller And McDonald That The Second Amendment To The Constitution, Secures A Fundamental Right For An Individual To Own A Firearm, Use It For Self Defense In Their Home?”
ELENA KAGAN: “There Is No Doubt, Senator Leahy, That Is Binding Precedent Entitled To All The Respect Of Binding Precedent In Any Case. So That Is Settled Law.”

But Kagan doesn't care about SCOTUS nomination proceedings:
“Subsequent Hearings Have Presented To The Public A Vapid And Hollow Charade, In Which Repetition Of Platitudes Has Replaced Discussion Of Viewpoints And Personal Anecdotes Have Supplanted Legal Analysis.” - Elena Kagan

Wow.
Well, America, how is that for a poke in your eye?

Lack of understanding

Posted on a local lefty blog:
Obama acted properly in accepting McChrystal's resignation, but I wish that he had been able to avoid an incident like this, making the resignation unnecessary. McChrystal, for all of his problems - and there have been many - is an amazing man, a dedicated and brave soldier, and a tremendous asset to our country. We have all lost something important with this failure. All of us have; McChrystal, Obama, the members of our armed forces, our allies, our country .
That dog won't hunt.

This left wing liberal, the Peevish Boy's better half, doesn't seem to understand the situation.

McChrystal did not resign from the army. He resigned his position as commander of US forces in Afghanistan. He is still a four star general. He is being replaced by an at least as qualified four star general.

But I still have one open question for the liberals;
will you still call him General Betrayus?

Friday, June 25, 2010

Liberals compare US Border Patrol to the KKK

Liberals claim border patrol are terrorists.

Idiots.
Liberals.
Just. Plain. Stupid.

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Barack Trump: You're fired! Bring on Betrayus?

OK, Gen. Stanley McChrystal should have kept some of his views to himself IF he really wants to keep his job.

Many generals have been fired over the years.

Undermining the CIC is wrong, regardless of what party is in the WH and regardless of the truth of the matter.

But the question now comes down to the ego of Obama.
Gen. Stanley McChrystal is an outstanding leader.
Obama has an outstanding ego.

Will Obama try to copy The Donald? Of course. His ego demands it. He can't hide his anger.

And what did Biden say about General Petraeus: "dead flat wrong"

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Definition of an idiot.

The Peevish Boy, aka Peevee, aka Pernicious Peevee, aka Useful Idiot, aka Liberal Fascist, aka Democrat Tool...

"You see things, underline SEE, your way, that's clear.

...after 4 years - and I've explained this numerous times - after 4 years of seeing Lilliputians like Yoss, AK, KR, Brad C, Badda and a few other wing-nuts..."

Whoa, peevee, when you said "after 4 years of seeing...", did you underline SEE?

And awww, isn't that nice. I made the ad hominem list!

...

Why is teh peevee such a hypocrite?

Well, he refuses to follow his own rules:

"Discourteous behavior discourages discussion and debate, and is contrary to sharing the widest possible range of view points."

And,

"4. Courtesy is expected and required."
Yet he calls commenters hypocrites and liars.

Oh, my, I just cornobbled teh Peevish Boy!!!

-$13,000.000,000,000

CBS

The National Debt topped $13-trillion for the first time in U.S. history - reflecting the surge in government spending that will push the Debt to increasing highs through the rest of the decade.

Posted on the Treasury Department website this afternoon, the National Debt hit $13,050,826,460,886.97 as of June 1st.

Tallied against the nation's Gross Domestic Product, the latest Debt number amounts to nearly 89.4 percent of the total economy.

Wow!!! Was this the HOPE and CHANGE you were expecting? Suckers!

Our federal government has gone from out of control spending to hyper out of control spending.

Obama has broken the record when it comes to deficit spending.

Obama has the record for adding to this country's debt!!!

It's not often that President Obama mentions the debt, but 90 minutes before the latest number was posted, it was part of his speech on the economy delivered at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

He was making the case that the record high federal deficits on his watch were not really his fault.

"We took office amid a crisis, and the effects of the recession put a $3 trillion hole in our budget before I even walked through the door," he explained to his audience.

Without mentioning his predecessor by name, he argued that blame for the expanding Debt reflected the policies of President George W. Bush...

He goes on and on blaming Dubya.

I will spare you more of Obama's finger pointing, go here to see Obama's picture.

No, Obama is NOT a leader. He continues to blame his problems on others. He tries to spend our way out of the Obama Depression. He has damaged our country much more than most people realize.

Don't be a coward.

I've been reading blogs and posting online for over 10 years.

I've seen all sorts of folks. A majority like to dish it out but can't take it. Some are pansies and some are cowards.

I don't care for cowards. If you got something to say; then say it.

If I offended your fragile little ego; then just admit it.

If I bothered you and you want me to stop; then just ask. Sure, I might tell you to pack sand up your pansy ass, but just don't act like a coward.
I don't like cowardly bullshit.

No Bullshit.

So don't act like such a little prick.

Double-dip Depression?

Lower prices could mean deflation and double-dip

Lumber prices are sinking. And while that might make a trip to Home Depot cheaper, it's also a sign that the global economic recovery and the U.S. housing rebound are in danger of stalling.

Only a few months ago, inflation was the main worry of many economists. But falling prices for the raw materials of many industries, including lumber, have set off deflation warning bells for some economists, who worry that they could signal another global economic downturn.

Prices for framing lumber have tumbled 21% from their peak only five weeks ago, according to figures from the National Association of Home Builders. Prices are also falling for a wide variety of other industrial materials in recent weeks.

While consumers love falling prices, deflation can cause far more damage to growth than inflation can. Lower prices cause businesses to cut back production, which can lead to layoffs, which can then cause further declines in demand due to falling incomes and consumer spending, creating a downward spiral.

If prices continue to fall, it could cause some producers to cut back production or go out of business because they can no longer cover their manufacturing costs, according to Eric Schooler, CEO of The Collins Companies, a Portland, Ore.,-based lumber producer.
Please don't tell me "the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression" can't get worse.

Had enough HOPE and CHANGE yet?

An issue if Emmer becomes Governor?

As we all have heard, Tom had two DUIs decades ago.

According to Canadian Law, Emmer is considered a member of an Inadmissible Class.

This has resulted in less tourism for Canada. I wonder what Tom Emmer has to say about being part of the Inadmissible Class?

I suppose Emmer won't be bringing bus loads of seasoned citizens to Canada on drug runs.

insufficient

Obama border initiative good step, but insufficient

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Obama administration's initiative to deploy additional federal resources in the fight against rising drug-related violence along the Mexican border was criticized as insufficient in a Senate committee hearing Wednesday.

This is only half of Obama's plan.

The Obama Depression will cut demand for additional border security.

The Obama Depression continues.

Stock market tumbles hundreds of points.

Greece in economic collapse.

Double digit unemployment.

“We can see that the difficult and at times unpopular steps we've taken over the last year are making a difference,” said Obama, who spoke from the Rose Garden and was flanked by members of his economic team.

The unemployment rate rose from 9.7 to 9.9 percent.

Shut up and play.

The NBA is supporting more criminal activity.

Suns to wear 'Los Suns' uniforms to honor Phoenix's Latino community

NBA Players Association executive director Billy Hunter issued a press release, denouncing the law.
We applaud the actions of Phoenix Suns players and management and join them in taking a stand against the misguided efforts of Arizona lawmakers. We are consulting with our members and our player leadership to determine the most effective way for our union to continue to voice our opposition to this legislation.
What part of "illegal" don't they understand?

Just shut up and play.

Supporting illegal activity is worse than simple partisan politics.
As Michael Jordan put it, "Republicans buy shoes too."

Funnier if it we're so true.

George Bush, Queen Elizabeth, and Vladimir Putin all die and go to hell. While there, they spy a red phone and ask what the phone is for. The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth.

Putin asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so Putin writes him a check.

Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes. When she is finished the devil informs her that the cost is 6 million dollars, so she writes him a check.

Finally George Bush gets his turn and talks for 4 hours. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is $5.00. When Putin hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why Bush got to call the USA so cheaply.

The devil smiles and replies: "Since Obama took over, the country has gone to hell, so it's a local call."

Protest in St. Paul

There might be a protest at the state capitol in St. Paul.

The protest is against the .08 DUI law in that it will unconstitutionally profile Americans of Irish descent.

One of the many patrons in downtown St. Paul feared being pulled over since he has not only a "Luck of the Irish" bumper sticker but also a "Notre Dame" static window decal. The patron said, "They are targeting us based on our Celtic appearance. I don't even like Irish Whiskey; and for the record, I prefer Summit EPA to Guinness!"

Jessy Ventura has not yet commented on how this issue correlates to the names of the streets in St. Paul.

"a worrisome assessment for Democrats."

Report says health care will cover more, cost more
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's health care overhaul law is getting a mixed verdict in the first comprehensive look by neutral experts: More Americans will be covered, but costs are also going up.
...
It's a worrisome assessment for Democrats.

In particular, concerns about Medicare could become a major political liability in the midterm elections. The report projected that Medicare cuts could drive about 15 percent of hospitals and other institutional providers into the red, "possibly jeopardizing access" to care for seniors.
...
"A trillion dollars gets spent, and it's no surprise — health care costs are going to go up," said Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., a leading Republican on health care issues. Camp added that he's concerned the Medicare cuts will undermine care for seniors.
This should not be a big surprise. Most people were against Obama ramming this legislation down our throats. Most people were fine with their health care.
Administration officials argue the increase is a bargain price for guaranteeing coverage to 95 percent of Americans.
So that means there will still be over 15 million uninsured Americans. Couldn't this supposed gain of 10 million Americans insured be covered under an existing welfare program?

And this is an early assessment, many more unintended consequences have yet to rear their ugly heads.

Napolitano's call to war against opposing views

This day in history, in 1775, the Revolutionary War began.

Those brave men and women went to war against an ideology that forcefully imposed outrageous taxes... those brave men and women fought for freedom, liberty, and the ability to pursue property and happiness.

Today Janet Napolitano called for defeating opposing ideologies.
"the continued need for vigilance against the violent ideologies that led to this attack, so that we can recognize their signs in our communities and stand together to defeat them."
Now everyone is against violent ideologies and against violent actions from any supporter of ANY ideology.
A person might share some aspects of another person's ideology; that does not mean that one person's violent ACTIONS represent the ideology.

Naploitano and the Obama administration are following directly out of Saul Alinksy's Rules for Radicals.
Rule 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it.
The target has now been picked.
The actions of said target have been frozen as an ideology.
This ideology has been personalized.
Now the ideology is being polarized and persecuted.

And the end game of Rule 12 is to paint opposing ideologies as violent extremists.

Don't worry, Mitch, I got your back.

Survey Says!!!!

I try to write my representatives and elected officials on important issues. I encourage other libertarian conservatives and classical liberals to do the same.

Recently my State Representative Paul Gardner e-mailed me to take a survey.
Greetings. I'm sending out this e-mail to constituents of District 53A who have sent me e-mail during the last few years. Every year I put together an electronic survey asking for your opinion on key issues that are before the Legislature. Generally I try to have a good sense of where my constituents are at on certain things, but I really would like to hear from you on these six issues. This survey should only take a few minutes. Your opinions are very important---each year hundreds of constituents reply and also give me thoughtful comments at the end of the survey and I read them all.

Here is the link to the survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9PJGHY5

Thank you very much for your input, and have a great day!

Rep. Paul Gardner

Minnesota House of Representatives District 53A

And on Friday I got a follow up email:
Greetings. Last week I sent out a request to complete a six-question survey to 888 constituents for whom I had e-mail addresses. So far I've received 522!
I'd like to share the results with you at my blog at http://www.paulgardner53a.blogspot.com/.
If you'd like to sign up for my regular e-mail updates, please sign up at http://www.house.mn/53a.
Have a great weekend!
He does acknowledge there is no statistical value to the survey.

I wrote back warning him not to fall into Pauline Kale Syndrome and how skewed data can be worse than no data.

Paul responded back to me withing 45 minutes:
Hi KR. I did make a disclaimer that it is not statistically valid since it is not a random survey. However, it was a pretty good batch of responses. I didn't post the individual responses because people left personal info like their names etc but those were very helpful too.
I have to admit his quick response impressed me.

But how will what this "survey says" influence his actions? Will it push him farther to the left?

I emailed Paul again, this time asking him what, specifically, his positions are on these issues.

I don't know how he will respond, but OK, I admit it, I still am disappointed.

This statement alone explains that Paul doesn't think it is your money; Paul thinks it is the government's money. From his blog:
"The cost to the State of Minnesota of this deduction (and therefore a benefit to the taxpayer) is more than $400 million a year."

And for more perspective:
Phil Krinkie was my 35A state representative.

Hyperpartisan Obama

Obama 'amused' by Tea Party rallies
President Barack Obama struck a hyperpartisan note Thursday, telling Democrats that he was "amused" by the Tax Day Tea Party rallies.

Obama, addressing a Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser in Miami, did little to endear himself to the Tea Party groups protesting around the country, saying "they should be saying thank you" because of the tax cuts he has signed into law.
You can take the corrupt politician out of Chicago...

This is the "new tone" he promised to bring to Washington DC.

More proof of MMGW?

Volcanic Eruption
Ash clouds that spouted from a volcano in Iceland and drifted across Europe caused the largest international airspace shutdown in years and threatened to choke air travel for days and pose problems for months.

The volcano, under a glacier known as Eyjafjallajokull, began erupting several weeks ago for the first time since the 1820s. It exploded more violently early Wednesday, spewing ash 30,000 feet into the air.

...

"Volcanoes are notoriously irregular in their behavior," said Pall Einarsson, professor of geophysics at the University of Iceland. "If there is any rule about them it is: There is no rule."

Or maybe this is more proof of MMGW?

Barack Obama Bourne, the real identity.

Obama Approves Targeted Killing of American

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has taken the extraordinary step of authorizing the targeted killing of an American citizen,...

It is extremely rare, if not unprecedented, for an American to be approved for targeted killing, officials said.

Obama is going to whack a fellow citizen.

Yet Obama wanted to try KSM in New York City.

Obama's extremism has been rejected by the people.

Stevens knows Obama is burning bridges with the American people.

Supreme Court Justice Stevens to retire
Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens announced Friday he will retire when the court wraps up its work for the summer break.

"Having concluded that it would be in the best interests of the Court to have my successor appointed and confirmed well in advance of the commencement of the Court's next term, I shall retire from regular active service as an Associate Justice, under the provisions of 28 U.S.C. 371 (b), effective the next day after the Court rises for the summer recess this year," Stevens wrote in a letter to President Barack Obama.
Will Obama pick another racist?

Stevens said, "But I want to make it in a way that's best for the court."
That is quite unfortunate that he doesn't want what's best for the constitution.

In memory of Teddy Kennedy, we should "Bork" the nominee for anything left of center.

Democrats don't care if they shred the constitution!

“I, (name of Member), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

Unemployment in March was worse than expected

It's the economy, stupid.

We are stuck in the Obama malaise depression.

Yet Obama is out their campaigning for ObamaNationCare that he already signed into LAW!!!

Obama's stimulus made the economy worse. The administration said unemployment would go as high as 8.9% without the stimulus plan. D'oh!

3,000,000 private sector jobs have been lost since the stimulus and just over 100,000 government jobs created.

Breaking news... Obama to campaign next week in Minnesota on the issue that murdering people is against the law...

Obama in Rude Denial

The White House political and legislative operations were said to be livid with the announcement by several large U.S. companies that they were taking multi-million or as much as a billion dollar charges because of the new health-care law, the issue was front-and-center with key lawmakers. By last Friday, AT&T, Caterpillar, Deere & Co., and AK Steel Holding Corp. had all announced that they were taking the one-time charges on their first-quarter balance sheets. More companies were expected to make similar announcements this week.
They are required to do so by LAW.

On Friday White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and Obama senior advisor Valerie Jarrett were calling the CEOs and Washington office heads of the companies that took the financial hits and attacked them for doing so. One Washington office head said that the White House calls were accusatory and "downright rude."
The companies are required by law to disclose that information.

"My CEO sat with the President over lunch with two other CEOs, and each of them tried to explain to the President what this bill would do to our companies and the economy in general. First the President didn't understand what they were talking about. Then he basically told my boss he was lying. Frankly my boss was embarrassed for him; he clearly had not been briefed and didn't know what was in the bill."

Obama already knew what his ObamaNationCare would do to these companies; they told him before he rammed this legislation down out throats.

It isn't just the President who didn't understand his own proposal. Late Friday, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman and Rep. Bart Stupak, chairman of the Oversight and Investigations panel, announced that they would hold hearings in late April to investigate "claims by Caterpillar, Verizon, and Deere that provisions in the new health care reform law could adversely affect their company's ability to provide health insurance to their employees."

Ah yes, Congressional hearings should beat them into submission denial.

"We had memos on these issues, but none of our people, we think, looked at them," says a staffer. "When they saw the stories last week about the charges some of the companies were taking, they were genuinely surprised and assumed that the companies were just doing this to embarrass them. They really believed this bill would immediately lower costs. They just didn't understand what they were voting on."
Incompetent.

Yes, Mr. President, the Democrats were wrong for doing what you asked.

Obama issues 15 recess appointments

President Barak Hussein Obama Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmm said:

"But if, in the interest of scoring political points... I must act in the interest of the American people and exercise my authority to fill these positions on an interim basis," adding later that, "I simply cannot allow partisan politics to stand in the way of the basic functioning of government.”

Back in 2007-2008, Obama supported Democrats when they ushered in the unprecedented "pro forma" session to keep President Bush from making recess appointments.

Hypocrisy at its finest!

Well played, Barry, just like a dog's hind leg.

Yes, Mr. President, the Daleys are quite proud of you.

An ObamaNation of Debt!

CBO Report on Obama's out of control spending.
President Obama's fiscal 2011 budget will generate nearly $10 trillion in cumulative budget deficits over the next 10 years, $1.2 trillion more than the administration projected, and raise the federal debt to 90 percent of the nation's economic output by 2020, the Congressional Budget Office reported Thursday.
In other news, drunken sailors call Obama's democrat spending "unfathomable".

The federal public debt, which was $6.3 trillion ($56,000 per household) when Mr. Obama entered office amid an economic crisis, totals $8.2 trillion ($72,000 per household) today,
Obama and the Democrats have managed to add almost $2 trillion in debt in just ONE year.

At that pace, they will add $8 trillion, for a total debt of $14 trillion by the end of Obama's term.

How's that HOPE and CHANGE working out?

Obama Law mandates WalMart purchases.

Landmark historical legislation signed by Obama will force Americans to make a monthly purchase at WalMart, weekly purchases at Walgreens, and one visit a year to Wall Drug.

Well, not really, but he did sign a law mandating you buy health insurance.

What next, a law making you buy a new car from GM? Or maybe a mandate to buy lots and lots of K-Rod's widgets (TBD)!!!!! Cha-ching!!!

Where in the Constitution does it give the federal government the power to force citizens to buy a product from a private company?

And now the Democrats are demanding AT&T, Caterpillar, Deere & Co, and Verizon testify in front of congress for their business decisions and the unintended consequences of ObamaNationCare.
Verizon told its employees that it "will likely have to cut healthcare benefits to offset the new costs;"
Medtronic warned that the new tax on its products "could force it to lay off a thousand workers;" will the CEO of Medtronic be brought in front of Congress as well?

What other CEOs will the Democrats and Obama shake down if they don't campaign for ObamaNationCare?

The burden is not on the opponents to prove the unintended consequences will, without a doubt, happen; it is up to the proponents to show and to prove there are measures prohibiting and preventing those unintended consequences.
Sixty years ago this same mistake happened with wage and price controls and look at the unintended consequences we see today.

Obama decreases world respect for USA

Obama humiliated Binyamin Netanyahu

For a head of government to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of. Yet that is how Binyamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip viewed in Jerusalem as a humiliation...

“It was awful,” the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages”, poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House telephone line...

With the atmosphere so soured by the end of the evening, the Israelis decided that they could not trust the telephone line they had been lent for their consultations. Mr Netanyahu and Ehud Barak, his Defence Minister, went to the Israeli Embassy to ensure that the Americans were not listening in.

The meeting came barely a day after Mr Obama’s health reform victory. Israel had calculated that he would be too tied up with domestic issues to focus seriously on the Middle East.

No class.

Barry Obama is NOT a statesman.

Update:

Three-quarters of Congress Reps signs letter calling to ease tensions with Israel.

It took just three days, the AIPAC statement said, to get the 327 signatures.

24/7 Campaign Mode

The President was on the campaign trail in Iowa Thursday.
In a clear sign that campaign season was nigh, the country song Only in America -- a staple of election rallies -- pounded out after Obama wrapped up, instead of formal presidential military march Hail to the Chief.
The President is campaigning for legislation he already signed.

The $940-billion law will help 14 million Americans.
$940,000,000,000 / 14,000,000
Wouldn't it have been easier to simply give each of those people $60,000 cash?

So what did the president say about the majority that oppose ObamaNationCare?

Obama said: "My attitude? Go for it,"

Bring it on, eh Barry?

Is that the new tone Obama promised he would bring to Washington DC?
Is that the bi-partisanship Obama promised?

Obama breaks campaign promises and Obama is always campaigning.

It seems you can't turn on a TV or radio without hearing an Obama campaign speech.

When will it end?

The Dogs of War

Combat dogs take to the skies for secret missions in Afghanistan

Two members of the Austrian special forces join Nato’s Operation Cold Response, one of Europe’s biggest military exercises, in Narvik, Norway.

Dropping from 10,000ft, they glide in order to land unnoticed. The dogs often carry cameras and are trained to attack anyone carrying a weapon.

“Dogs don’t perceive height difference, so that doesn’t worry them. They’re more likely to be bothered by the roar of the engines, but once we’re on the way down, that doesn’t matter and they just enjoy the view,” said the dog handler. “It’s something he does a lot. He has a much cooler head than most recruits.”

Commandos from 14 countries, including British special forces and Royal Marines, took part in the Nato exercise. The use of dogs in High Altitude High Opening missions was pioneered by America’s Delta Force, which trained the animals to breathe through oxygen masks during the jump.

Capital Punishment

There are the standard reasons to support capital punishment; punishment, deterrent, and it's constitutionally accepted.

Some folks, for example fellow blogger Mitch at SitD and peacnik liberals, oppose the death penalty because of the minuscule chance of being put to death for a crime you did NOT commit.

The chance of being put to death for a crime you did not commit are about one in a billion.

Some folks actually think those are high odds. Don't get me wrong, I agree the government tends to screw up everything, but lets be realistic. Fix or improve the system before you abandon it.

I have another reason to support capital punishment.

Without capital punishment, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks (KSM), if convicted, would be allowed to safely write letters to his terrorist family/friends possibly planning the next attack on our country.

Waterskipping!

My CFR800 blew a belt the Saturday before last going 100 mph across the lake. The belt basically disintegrated into cotton. It took out the exhaust valve cables...

Considering the dearth of snow we had this year, I would still consider riding 2800 miles for the year to be a good year. (Last year was about 2800 and the year before was about 3000.)
We still might get a nice snow storm, but I won't hold my breath.

Waterskipping marks the end of the snowmobile season.

The trails are shot and there is some open water. Time to do some waterskipping!

This past Saturday there were about 300 or so people gathering at the skips and next weekend there will be close to 600.

And the last hurrah at the water skips is always fun!

And that, my friends, marks the end of one season and the beginning of a new...

Closet Liberals

It is common for local lefty bloggers to delete comments that don't conform to the liberal mantra.
If you don't toe the liberal line you are not allowed to even discuss the issues.

I have uncovered a closeted liberal MOB member posing as a conservative.

This local blogger wants to expand government laws and government control to give special benefits to an extremely small percentage of people. This lefty blogger would rather enact more laws than get rid of the current bad laws.
Why? Selfish laziness, another liberal trait.

The hypocrisy I have uncovered is not surprising to see from a liberal.

At least Penigma admits he is a liberal, that is more than we can say for these closeted liberal clowns.

And here is the frosting on the liberal cake; said closeted lefty blogger blames climbing the corporate ladder on his being obese and his loss of self control.
How's that for personal responsibility? pffftttt

I've taken AS to task once again.

... update ...

More liberal moon-bat rantings:
"I am dead serious when I say that I'd be thinner if the economy were better."
Sure, your obesity must be BushMcChimpyHitler's fault, eh?

Liberal ignorance is no excuse

The liberals supporting Obama and trying to ram the ObamaNationCare takeover down our throats continually spread disinformation (at best, outright lies more likely).

One instance of them spreading disinformation is repeating the falsehood that their opposition hasn't brought ANY new ideas to the discussion.

Well, the truth is there have been many alternatives proposed.

Governor Tim Pawlenty has five specific ways to reform health care:

Five ways to reform health care

(1) Incentivize patients to be smart consumers

(2) Pay for performance

(3) Liability reform

(4) Interstate health-care insurance

(5) Modernize health insurance

Desperation

Filibuster reform headed for Senate floor

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) intends in the next few weeks to introduce legislation that would take away the minority’s power to filibuster legislation.

Why is Senator Harkin so afraid to debate and discuss the issues?
“At issue is a fundamental principle basic to our democracy — rule of the majority as a legislative body,” Harkin wrote. “Elections should have consequences. Yet the Senate's current rules allow for a minority as small as one to make elections meaningless.”
Actually, Senator Harkin, we are a republic, if you can keep it.

And please don't insult the American people with a such a lie about one person making an election meaningless. Please resign, you partisan hack, you aren't smart enough to understand the fundamentals of this country and our form of government.
“While there are reasons to slow bills down and get the public aware of what's happening, there's no excuse for having a few people just stop everything with a filibuster,” he said.
WOW! Why are the Democrats so afraid to discuss the ObamaNationCare bills?

Why are the Democrats trying so hard to ram this ObamaNationCare takeover down our throats?

The next question is how and why the Senate leader Reid is even allowing the idea.
Reid has been outspoken against changing the Senate rules:
“It was just a matter of time before a Senate leader who couldn’t get his way on something moved to eliminate the filibuster for regular business,” Reid wrote. “And that, simply put, would be the end of the United States Senate … A filibuster is the minority’s way of not allowing the majority to shut off debate, and without robust debate, the Senate is crippled.”
Why are some Democrats trying to cripple the Senate?

Will Obama force Reid to change his position and support changing the Senate rules?

Or will Obama stick to his position of NOT changing the filibuster rules?
“The American people want less partisanship in this town, but everyone in this chamber knows that if the majority chooses to end the filibuster — if they choose to change the rules and put an end to democratic debate — then the fighting and the bitterness and the gridlock will only get worse,” Obama said
How's that HOPE and CHANGE working out?
