Obama is on a permanent vacation in Egypt

Obama in Rude Denial

The White House political and legislative operations were said to be livid with the announcement by several large U.S. companies that they were taking multi-million or as much as a billion dollar charges because of the new health-care law, the issue was front-and-center with key lawmakers. By last Friday, AT&T, Caterpillar, Deere & Co., and AK Steel Holding Corp. had all announced that they were taking the one-time charges on their first-quarter balance sheets. More companies were expected to make similar announcements this week.
They are required to do so by LAW.

On Friday White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and Obama senior advisor Valerie Jarrett were calling the CEOs and Washington office heads of the companies that took the financial hits and attacked them for doing so. One Washington office head said that the White House calls were accusatory and "downright rude."
The companies are required by law to disclose that information.

"My CEO sat with the President over lunch with two other CEOs, and each of them tried to explain to the President what this bill would do to our companies and the economy in general. First the President didn't understand what they were talking about. Then he basically told my boss he was lying. Frankly my boss was embarrassed for him; he clearly had not been briefed and didn't know what was in the bill."

Obama already knew what his ObamaNationCare would do to these companies; they told him before he rammed this legislation down out throats.

It isn't just the President who didn't understand his own proposal. Late Friday, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman and Rep. Bart Stupak, chairman of the Oversight and Investigations panel, announced that they would hold hearings in late April to investigate "claims by Caterpillar, Verizon, and Deere that provisions in the new health care reform law could adversely affect their company's ability to provide health insurance to their employees."

Ah yes, Congressional hearings should beat them into submission denial.

"We had memos on these issues, but none of our people, we think, looked at them," says a staffer. "When they saw the stories last week about the charges some of the companies were taking, they were genuinely surprised and assumed that the companies were just doing this to embarrass them. They really believed this bill would immediately lower costs. They just didn't understand what they were voting on."
Incompetent.

Yes, Mr. President, the Democrats were wrong for doing what you asked.

Obama issues 15 recess appointments

President Barak Hussein Obama Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmm said:

"But if, in the interest of scoring political points... I must act in the interest of the American people and exercise my authority to fill these positions on an interim basis," adding later that, "I simply cannot allow partisan politics to stand in the way of the basic functioning of government.”

Back in 2007-2008, Obama supported Democrats when they ushered in the unprecedented "pro forma" session to keep President Bush from making recess appointments.

Hypocrisy at its finest!

Well played, Barry, just like a dog's hind leg.

Yes, Mr. President, the Daleys are quite proud of you.

An ObamaNation of Debt!

CBO Report on Obama's out of control spending.
President Obama's fiscal 2011 budget will generate nearly $10 trillion in cumulative budget deficits over the next 10 years, $1.2 trillion more than the administration projected, and raise the federal debt to 90 percent of the nation's economic output by 2020, the Congressional Budget Office reported Thursday.
In other news, drunken sailors call Obama's democrat spending "unfathomable".

The federal public debt, which was $6.3 trillion ($56,000 per household) when Mr. Obama entered office amid an economic crisis, totals $8.2 trillion ($72,000 per household) today,
Obama and the Democrats have managed to add almost $2 trillion in debt in just ONE year.

At that pace, they will add $8 trillion, for a total debt of $14 trillion by the end of Obama's term.

How's that HOPE and CHANGE working out?

Obama Law mandates WalMart purchases.

Landmark historical legislation signed by Obama will force Americans to make a monthly purchase at WalMart, weekly purchases at Walgreens, and one visit a year to Wall Drug.

Well, not really, but he did sign a law mandating you buy health insurance.

What next, a law making you buy a new car from GM? Or maybe a mandate to buy lots and lots of K-Rod's widgets (TBD)!!!!! Cha-ching!!!

Where in the Constitution does it give the federal government the power to force citizens to buy a product from a private company?

And now the Democrats are demanding AT&T, Caterpillar, Deere & Co, and Verizon testify in front of congress for their business decisions and the unintended consequences of ObamaNationCare.
Verizon told its employees that it "will likely have to cut healthcare benefits to offset the new costs;"
Medtronic warned that the new tax on its products "could force it to lay off a thousand workers;" will the CEO of Medtronic be brought in front of Congress as well?

What other CEOs will the Democrats and Obama shake down if they don't campaign for ObamaNationCare?

The burden is not on the opponents to prove the unintended consequences will, without a doubt, happen; it is up to the proponents to show and to prove there are measures prohibiting and preventing those unintended consequences.
Sixty years ago this same mistake happened with wage and price controls and look at the unintended consequences we see today.

Obama decreases world respect for USA

Obama humiliated Binyamin Netanyahu

For a head of government to visit the White House and not pose for photographers is rare. For a key ally to be left to his own devices while the President withdraws to have dinner in private was, until this week, unheard of. Yet that is how Binyamin Netanyahu was treated by President Obama on Tuesday night, according to Israeli reports on a trip viewed in Jerusalem as a humiliation...

“It was awful,” the congressman said. One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages”, poisoned by such mistrust that the Israeli delegation eventually left rather than risk being eavesdropped on a White House telephone line...

With the atmosphere so soured by the end of the evening, the Israelis decided that they could not trust the telephone line they had been lent for their consultations. Mr Netanyahu and Ehud Barak, his Defence Minister, went to the Israeli Embassy to ensure that the Americans were not listening in.

The meeting came barely a day after Mr Obama’s health reform victory. Israel had calculated that he would be too tied up with domestic issues to focus seriously on the Middle East.

No class.

Barry Obama is NOT a statesman.

Update:

Three-quarters of Congress Reps signs letter calling to ease tensions with Israel.

It took just three days, the AIPAC statement said, to get the 327 signatures.

24/7 Campaign Mode

The President was on the campaign trail in Iowa Thursday.
In a clear sign that campaign season was nigh, the country song Only in America -- a staple of election rallies -- pounded out after Obama wrapped up, instead of formal presidential military march Hail to the Chief.
The President is campaigning for legislation he already signed.

The $940-billion law will help 14 million Americans.
$940,000,000,000 / 14,000,000
Wouldn't it have been easier to simply give each of those people $60,000 cash?

So what did the president say about the majority that oppose ObamaNationCare?

Obama said: "My attitude? Go for it,"

Bring it on, eh Barry?

Is that the new tone Obama promised he would bring to Washington DC?
Is that the bi-partisanship Obama promised?

Obama breaks campaign promises and Obama is always campaigning.

It seems you can't turn on a TV or radio without hearing an Obama campaign speech.

When will it end?

The Dogs of War

Combat dogs take to the skies for secret missions in Afghanistan

Two members of the Austrian special forces join Nato’s Operation Cold Response, one of Europe’s biggest military exercises, in Narvik, Norway.

Dropping from 10,000ft, they glide in order to land unnoticed. The dogs often carry cameras and are trained to attack anyone carrying a weapon.

“Dogs don’t perceive height difference, so that doesn’t worry them. They’re more likely to be bothered by the roar of the engines, but once we’re on the way down, that doesn’t matter and they just enjoy the view,” said the dog handler. “It’s something he does a lot. He has a much cooler head than most recruits.”

Commandos from 14 countries, including British special forces and Royal Marines, took part in the Nato exercise. The use of dogs in High Altitude High Opening missions was pioneered by America’s Delta Force, which trained the animals to breathe through oxygen masks during the jump.

Don't ram it down our throats!

Democrats move closer to passing Senate health bill without vote on text.

Wow!

Just take over health care / health insurance without voting on the monstrosity!

Welcome to Liberal Fascism, Obama style.

My fellow bloggers Brad Carlson and Mr. D have sent letters to our representatives in opposition to the ObamaNation health care takeover.

I did the same.

Join us; write your representatives in congress.

*cue The Doors*

This is the end...

...of the snow in northern Minnesota.

Lake Vermilion can be seen north of Duluth, just south of the remaining snow in the BWCA and Canadian border.

But, will we still get more snow this spring?

Capital Punishment

There are the standard reasons to support capital punishment; punishment, deterrent, and it's constitutionally accepted.

Some folks, for example fellow blogger Mitch at SitD and peacnik liberals, oppose the death penalty because of the minuscule chance of being put to death for a crime you did NOT commit.

The chance of being put to death for a crime you did not commit are about one in a billion.

Some folks actually think those are high odds. Don't get me wrong, I agree the government tends to screw up everything, but lets be realistic. Fix or improve the system before you abandon it.

I have another reason to support capital punishment.

Without capital punishment, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks (KSM), if convicted, would be allowed to safely write letters to his terrorist family/friends possibly planning the next attack on our country.

Waterskipping!

My CFR800 blew a belt the Saturday before last going 100 mph across the lake. The belt basically disintegrated into cotton. It took out the exhaust valve cables...

Considering the dearth of snow we had this year, I would still consider riding 2800 miles for the year to be a good year. (Last year was about 2800 and the year before was about 3000.)
We still might get a nice snow storm, but I won't hold my breath.

Waterskipping marks the end of the snowmobile season.

The trails are shot and there is some open water. Time to do some waterskipping!

This past Saturday there were about 300 or so people gathering at the skips and next weekend there will be close to 600.

And the last hurrah at the water skips is always fun!

And that, my friends, marks the end of one season and the beginning of a new...

Soft Water Fishing and Camping and Hiking!!!

Closet Liberals

It is common for local lefty bloggers to delete comments that don't conform to the liberal mantra.
If you don't toe the liberal line you are not allowed to even discuss the issues.

I have uncovered a closeted liberal MOB member posing as a conservative.

This local blogger wants to expand government laws and government control to give special benefits to an extremely small percentage of people. This lefty blogger would rather enact more laws than get rid of the current bad laws.
Why? Selfish laziness, another liberal trait.

The hypocrisy I have uncovered is not surprising to see from a liberal.

At least Penigma admits he is a liberal, that is more than we can say for these closeted liberal clowns.

And here is the frosting on the liberal cake; said closeted lefty blogger blames climbing the corporate ladder on his being obese and his loss of self control.
How's that for personal responsibility? pffftttt

I've taken AS to task once again.

... update ...

More liberal moon-bat rantings:
"I am dead serious when I say that I'd be thinner if the economy were better."
Sure, your obesity must be BushMcChimpyHitler's fault, eh?

Folks, you just can't make this shit up.
